2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled & quartered

4 tbsp butter

½ cup warm whole milk or cream

2 garlic cloves, minced (optional)

Salt & white pepper to taste

Chives, chopped (garnish)

Place potatoes in cold salted water. Bring to a boil and cook 15–20 min until fork-tender.

Drain well and return to the pot over low heat for 1 min to evaporate excess moisture.

Mash potatoes with a potato masher or ricer for a smooth texture.

Stir in butter until melted, then gradually add warm milk. Season with salt, white pepper, and garlic if using.

Serve topped with a pat of butter and chopped chives.
