1 large head broccoli, cut into florets

1 tbsp butter or olive oil

1 garlic clove, minced

Juice of ½ lemon

Salt & pepper to taste

Red pepper flakes (optional)

Bring 1 inch of water to a boil in a pot fitted with a steamer basket.

Add broccoli florets, cover, and steam 4–5 min until bright green and crisp-tender.

Remove from heat immediately — do not overcook.

Toss with butter or olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.

Serve immediately, topped with red pepper flakes if desired.
